Web design tips

Are you losing customers because your website doesn’t look good on mobile devices?

| By Matt Jelfs

In recent years the amount of people viewing websites on mobile devices such as phones and tablets has increased tremendously.

When viewing my own website traffic statistics, usually 40% – 60% of all traffic is from a mobile device. If your website is a little out of date there’s a good chance it does not look so good on mobile devices. Worse than that, your business could be losing money because of this. Some potential customers might be leaving your website instantly, because it simply cannot be used at all on a mobile device.

Even newer websites might have some niggles for mobile viewers if they haven’t been specifically customised for a user-friendly mobile experience. If your business uses a website to showcase services and attract new customers it’s vital it is user-friendly and works well on mobile devices. It’s worth checking your website on a range of devices to see your customers’ experience for yourself.

  • Would you be happy with it if you were them?
  • Can you see all the information clearly?
  • Is it easy to navigate around the website?
  • Are the principle calls-to-action obvious?

If not, perhaps it’s time for a refresh?
